Diagram of the seven chakras positioned along the body, from the root chakra at the base of the spine to the crown chakra at the top of the head

The name “chakra” is the Sanskrit word for "wheel." In yoga, chakras are used to describe the way energy “moves” throughout the body. Each of the seven chakras (described below) are said to correlate with different abilities, expressions, and types of health.

Chakras are the primary energy centers of our body, and when they're flowing freely, we tend to feel light and well. However, when one is blocked we can feel off in many ways, depending on which chakra isn't flowing—and that's where crystals come in. Different crystals and stones have vibratory qualities that resonate with each of the chakras, making them an excellent tool to work with if you're looking to unblock or balance a particular chakra(s).

There are seven main chakras that run along your spine, from the base to the crown of your head.
